Welcome to the other side of Wyoming, not to mention one of the state's most appealing towns. Hiding in a verdant valley between some of America’s most rugged and wild mountains, Jackson looks similar to other towns in the state – false-front roof lines, covered wooden walkways, saloons on every block – but it ain't quite the same.

Here, hard-core climbers, cyclists and skiers (recognizable as sunburned baristas) outnumber cowboys by a wide margin, and you’re just as likely to see a celebrity as a moose wandering the urban trails.

Although Jackson, being posh and popular, does have its downsides for the traveler, it does mean you’ll find a lively urban buzz, a refreshing variety of foods and no shortage of things to do – both in and out of town.
